neolithic settlements, Roman fortifications, mediaeval castles and neoclassical
houses. Within easy distance of Shieldhall you will find Hadrian’s Wall,
Alnwick Castle, Cragside House, Wallington Hall, Belsay Hall & Castle.
Newcastle and Durham. The roads are traffic free by southern standards and
you will more likely be stopped by sheep than traffic lights. This area is a
paradise for natural and human history and there is so much to see and do
that one visit is rarely enough. Clay pigeon shooting, quad bike riding, country
